Date variables
FastStats always stores Dates internally in the format YYYYMMDD. The Date configuration dialog allows the specification of the input date format and the format of the date description.
By default the date range is detected automatically. Designer will extend the date codes generated to the start of the first year and to the last day of the last year.
If the date variable exists on a database data source then the 'input format' property will be disabled.
Date range detection¶
The maximum date range is 65534 days - this corresponds to about 178 years. If you have a special 'marker' date (e.g. 01/01/2300 or 01/01/1800) then this may skew the range of dates. If the range detected exceeds 178 years then Designer will auto-detect the range to be (i.e. at the top of the date range).
- Start year = Detected end year - 178 years
- End year = detected end year
If the range is incorrectly skewed then you should specify the date range manually. Dates falling outside the year range will be included in the unclassified code.
