Save a selection

Name a selection

A selection will be given the default name of ‘New Selection N’ when it is first created. To rename a selection, simply over-type the name in the text box.

The following example, shows a selection renamed to be ‘Bristol Households’.

You can save a selection in the following ways:

Drag and drop save

  1. Click on the icon to the left of the selection name.
  2. Drag and drop the icon onto the appropriate Files folder.

This creates a .xml containing the selection logic you have defined.

Note

A right-drag will give you a choice of save types - either the default .xml or a .urn file.

Windows method save

Alternatively click on the Save icon Save icon:

  1. Navigate to My FastStats Folders and then to the folder where you want to save the file.
  2. Enter the File name if you have not already renamed the window.
  3. The Save item will be your selection page or the whole book if you have other analysis pages.
  4. Save the file Type as a set of selection settings or URNs.
  5. Click the Save button to complete the task.

You can re-open a saved selection by dragging and dropping the item from File Explorer back onto the FastStats workspace.
