Creating a chart from a cube

The quickest way to create a Chart is to drag and drop the Charting icon onto a Cube.

  1. Create a Cube of Income v. Occupation.
  2. Right drag the bookings Cost variable into the middle of the Cube to add in the Sum of Cost.
  3. Drag and drop the Charting icon from the Toolbox and onto the Cube.

By default, the numerical analysis will be displayed as a column chart and will default to the measures and dimensions of the underlying Cube.

Exploring data from the whole database

The Charting tool can also be used stand alone to start exploring data from the whole database:

  1. Open a new Chart by clicking on the Charting tool icon in the Toolbox ribbon bar.

    A blank Charting window will open up in the central workspace.

  2. Determine and drag on the dimensions by which you wish to view your data.

The Chart Measures will default to the resolve table of the first dimension added.

Click the Build button within the Charting window to create the display.
